Working Mans Kitchen – Check out the Pizza Dog and Pizza

The latest and greatest spot in Nottingham to grab a slice of pizza action is at Working Man’s Kitchen in Sneinton Market across the way from the Neon Raptor Brewery Tap Room

If like me you are in the mood for beer and pizza this is the perfect spot to get your fill of both

Now if the name sounds familiar it is probably as you have seen talk of the infamous Pizza Dog a supposed viral sensation that was being served up from a trailer down by the City Ground when Forest were playing at home.

If like me you are a Notts Fan you will claim we had it first as apparently it was tested out on our side of the river first, but many others may have never heard about it unless you saw it pop up on the socials as this place launched.

Despite the football connection I really wanted to come down and try it, after all we are supposed to be one big city and all that, plus I love hotdogs and pizza 🤣😘

WORKING MAN’S KITCHEN MENU

The day we visited the menu board was looking pretty simple with just a few pizza combinations on offer; MARINARA, MARGHERITA, and the PEP DOG (Pepperoni) sitting alongside the PIZZA DOG.

There were meatballs on offer as a starter and some kind of salad, sadly the meatballs had sold out for the day, the salad? I didn’t enquire 🤣🧐

We were here for the Pizza Dog and Some Pizza so that was what we ordered

THE PIZZA DOG

The Pizza Dog is exactly as it sounds a hot dog on a slice of pizza, or more accurately as listed on the menu it is a “Plain cheese pizza, Frankfurter, topped with ketchup, mustard, and crispy fried onions

It was jolly good, all the classic flavours you expect and hope for from a Dog and from a slice of pizza what could go wrong here? Absolutely nothing!

Luckily I am not back in Chicago where it is practically illegal to add ketchup to a hot dog, but now I am back this side of the pond I freely admit that I always do now 🤣

I really like this combination, if I was being critical I would like a bigger hot dog and preferably one with more snap to the bite like you get in the states but it was pretty decent for this side of the pond

I can see why it went viral and got popular as it is pretty perfect footy scran, very portable and just the right size for a pre-footy snack. Not only that if you wanted both a hot dog and a slice of pizza well you have the best of both worlds here sitting in your hand

Now can you make me a Hamburger pizza as well please?

PEP’s PEPPERONI PIZZA

Pizza wise I had picked the best sounding combination on the board which was ‘PADDY’s PEP’ a pizza topped with pepperoni, tomato, mozzarella, red onion and hot honey’.

This mix was the most promising on offer and with a bit of each of those ingredient in a bite I was hoping for an excellent mouthful of pizza every time!

As expected I loved all the toppings and I loved the contrast of the soft chewy dough along with the crispy charred edges.

The ‘hot honey’ was not as spicy as I have had some places and to be honest I was down with that, subtlety wins with this topping.

There was enough pepperoni and although it was spread sporadically so that there were arguments over who got which slice, I managed to grab plenty of meaty mouthfuls.

Excellent pizza, really very cheesy and very easy (far too easy) to stuff down into my belly. I quite fancy another one right now!

Working Man’s Kitchen are located at Sneinton Market, 9 Avenue A, NG1 1DT right opposite the Neon Raptor Brewery

Of course being next to the brewery you can match up your pizza scoffage with some beer and happily they have an arrangement where you can grab a beer and drink it with your pizza in either joint (perfection)
