Secret Burger Club – The Korean Kimcheese

Look you know me well enough by now to understand that I spend half my life dreaming about burgers and that I just can never resist hunting down Secret Burger Club whenever they announce a new special, especially a limited edition one.

Thus it was that we found ourselves riding the tram over to the market at the Garage in Chilwell to hunt down on of their latest offerings THE KOREAN KIMCHEESE.

Officially this smashed up burger beast was described as being a ‘Double Beef Patty, American Cheese, Kimchi, Gochujang Kewpie Mayo and fresh chilli’ and it was going to cost you a weighty £13 which I suppose to be fair is pretty much the cost of a decent burger these days

It was looking pretty tempting as I clutched in in my hand and I could not wait to take a bite. The lovely chart on the corners of the meaty patty and that ooze of cheese under the bun had my mouth drooling

Unsurprisingly it is another triumph and another perfectly harmonious blend of toppings.

I was afraid that the Kimchi, and the Gochujang Mayo would overpower and have a big flavour fight inside the burger but I was wrong they were utilised to perfection to create a glorious tasty bite.

These days both are familiar flavours that we have grown to love with the introduction of many previously unknown Asian flavours brought to us through our travels and more often from a local streetfood vendor.

It is a world away from the fried onions and ketchup we craved on our fairground burgers

OK so yes a big juicy burger was probably enough food for lunch but I could not forgoe the chance to try their new Loaded Tater Tots combination topped with ‘House Cheese sauce, crispy onions, cholua hot sauce and chives’

I confess I am never much of a fan of the tater tot but this mix up may have turned my head and I will look out for these again. A little bit spicy but in a good way, your taste buds will thank you for the opportunity

While Secret Burger Club can be more commonly found at their regular haunts in the Car Park of the Crown Inn at Beeston on a Wednesday, and outside the Royal Oak in Radcliffe on Trent on a Thursday you will also see them popping up from time to time at the Garage Chilwell at one of their Sunday Markets or Street Food events on a Saturday. So keep an eye on their socials to keep track
