Behind the doors at Bradmore garden centre you will find Wellington’s Cafe and Bistro, a seemingly popular destination for many of the shoppers at the centre, perhaps not all of them buying bags of compost and manure

I had heard that the Sunday Carvery was well thought of so I figured I should check that out
Now I’ll be Frank I am not a fan of a carvery, I always find it to be a bit of a con, slice of meat and loads of overcooked vegetables to fill you up but that’s just me! loads of my mates love em 🤣😎

Today at Wellingtons in return for a relatively modest outlay of £11.95 I received a plate with a couple of decent sized slices of roast beef and a slice of gammon. To that I added my choice of roast potatoes, roast parsnips, a Yorkshire pudding, some peas, sliced carrots, green beans, leeks in sauce, a stuffing ball and a big dollop of gravy
In summary a big plate of food! Many other people in the cafe were piling it higher, they were here getting their moneys worth I figured

The leeks in sauce had an unusual flavour, the carrots and beans a bit overcooked for my liking. The peas were well just peas
Highlights were the roasted parsnip and the gammon. The beef was generous but not pink as I like. The Yorkshire looked like one from a packet (fair enough), the roast potatoes were small but decent enough, gravy thick and plentiful depending I suppose on how much you ladle onto the plate
I’m still not a fan of the carvery but I appreciate that for many it’s a firm Sunday institution and much beloved
All in all a decent feed for the money, and judging by the number of people dining here it’s doing something right to attract them

The Cafe at Bradmore Garden centre does a lot more than a carvery and is always full when I visit so yes give the place a go sometime. I saw that they do a breakfast which I am much keener on so may well return for one day when I’m getting my garden stuff

Wellington’s Cafe & Bistro can be found inside Bradmore Garden Centre, Pendock Lane, Cherry Lane Garden Centre, Nottingham NG11 6PQ
