So I find myself back at Five Guys for another helping of their burgers. I first came in on the opening night and wrote a little bit about it on here then; “Five Guys in Nottingham – A Bacon CheeseBurger Please with some Fries”
OK yes I know that I really should be eating at different places, but the truth is that even though I tend to just blog once or twice about the places to eat in this City of ours, just like we all do, I often find myself coming back to the same places that I really like time and time again. Five Guys in the Old Market Square is going to be one of those places.
It is pretty hard to get a decent picture of a burger here at Five Guys but my companion made a decent effort here to stage a photo for me by turning his bag into a tray container to hold his fries. I said last time out that the main thing about the burgers here is the taste, forget the view. They wrap them up so tight in that tin foil that they kind of squash them into submission.
Last time I just had a Bacon Cheeseburger but this time I chose a few different toppings just to mix it all up a little. I tried to recreate a kind of Mushroom Swiss effort by choosing the toppings of Cheese, Grilled Mushrooms, Lettuce and Tomato. I had not thought that I would have been able to beat the plain basic bacon cheeseburger, but I was basically wrong, this was so goddam good. It was so good that I am thinking maybe I should stop writing about nice meals out and lovely artisan foods. Just give me a big juicy burger, it seems to make me happy.
My companion decided to have one of their Cheese Burgers with basically all of the free toppings on it. So that was Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions, Ketchup, Mustard, Mayo, Pickles, Grilled Onions, and Grilled Mushrooms. If I am honest it looked like a total mess, but he said that it was really tasty and that he would have that again (I am not sure myself).
All those Free Topping Options
Now I will not promise that I will not write again about another trip to 5 Guys. I will probably just keep it quiet though next time.
That looks a soggy mess!
I know I know, but this is one to take a leap of faith on. It is really tasty and really good, just shut your eyes and lets your taste buds give it the once over. The reason why they look squashed is that they wrap every burger up in foil so they just don’t look photogenic. Its an inner beauty kind of thing 😉
