The Corner Cafe in Netherfield is a most welcoming place full of locals enjoying their cups of tea and coffee, the odd cob and depending on the time of day a breakfast or a plate of standard cafe fodder.
I used to live just around the corner but moved away some years ago and to my shame I have not been back since then. From the outside it looked exactly the same, and reading my review from back then (read more here) it seems the menu still focusses on the classics.
Inside it felt a lot more friendly and warm and if I did still live here I could see myself becoming one of those regulars

Despite the hour of the day, a fair way past lunchtime nearer 2 than 12, I was still hoping for a breakfast situation and I was delighted to be told that it was no problem I could have an all day breakfast if I wanted! Hurrah 😜
There were a lot of options, many sizes of breakfast, many combinations, too many to contemplate so I have stuck some of the menu options down below near the end while I tell you that I just considered from the three near the top of the menu, SMALL, FULL, and BIG.
Normally I would have just gone BIG but the FULL ENGLISH of “2 eggs, 1 sausage, 2 bacon, hash brown, black pudding, beans and tomatoes” for £6.80 seemed plenty enough.
Bonus when placing my order I found that it also came with a choice of toast, bread and butter, or fried slice so I took the least healthy option getting the lard laden slice to grease the arteries
FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST

The sausage was slightly dubious but crisped up well, the bacon cooked with a little char, meaty and salty. I enjoyed the black pudding slice and the well cooked hash brown.
I have learned to love the bean tomato meld even when served up touching the eggs, a breakfast crime many cannot get past😜😜
It was a highlight getting the fried slices which I used to mop up all the juices and the egg yolks. If I was being greedy I could have done with another slice or two.
As breakfasts go this one was an absolute steal for the money, sure you can question the quality of some of the ingredients but I have to say that they made the most of what they had and cooked it very well.

Other options included the Special Breakfast which was essentially omelette and chips with a small breakfast served alongside. I am not mocking I actually think that sounds pretty good. The sort of combination I would load up on my plate from an all you can eat breakfast buffet.
The Big Belly Buster Breakfast sounded like quite a challenge offering a plate filled with “3 eggs, 3 sausages, 3 bacon, hash browns or chips, mushrooms, 2 black pudding, beans, tomatoes, 2 fried slice and 3 toast“! for £12.
Earlier as I was considering my options I pondered if we could get that as a takeaway so that we could share it! 😜 Of course history tells you that we didn’t. I am tempted to come back and try it!

I really like the Corner Cafe in Netherfield. It was just the scrummy breakfast delight that I scoffed down for my lunch, it was also the vibe of the place where everyone seemed to know every one else and you got a sense of community with the walls of the cafe.
I would come back again in a heartbeat if I was passing through the area and most probably will have in the time between eating and posting this blog 🤣😜
You can find the Corner Café on… well… as you might expect … a corner. Address wise it is at 40 Victoria Road in Netherfield just across the road from the Co-op
