Tonight was Burger Night with at the Elms Farm Farm Shop in East Leake run by the former master of street food from Sando Loco which I last tasted at the now defunct Street Food Club in the Victoria Centre (read more here)
After that the locally popular De Ferrers Kitchen was born which used to be in the Nags Head. These days he runs the butchers shop in the village and has started putting on some hot food.
With the excellent meats and provenance of the Farm Shop and this man on the grill and running the show you just know it’s going to be great.
BURGER NIGHT MENU

It was advised that it was best to pre-order (it might even have been compulsory) so I rang up to make my plea for some burgers earlier in the day once I knew the shop was open.
We started off being sensible planning to just get a couple of cheeseburgers for £6.50 but then we upsold ourselves ordering two Double Bacon Cheese Burgers for £9.50.
“Do you want a side?“ ‘erm what you got?‘ “Loaded Bacon & Cheese Fries?” OK sold! 🤣
The menu and ordering details had been posted on their Facebook page. There was a chalkboard version on the shop counter top but I forget to take a picture in my rush to collect the goods
DOUBLE BACON CHEESEBURGER

The burger was described on the menu as BACON CHEESEBURGER and being served on “Welbeck milk buns with salad, burger sauce and pickles”
It was a very decent sized burger for the money and I was glad that I only ordered the one burger. I had been tempted to order a couple getting the Stilton one as well. I don’t think I would have managed both comfortably 🤣🧐
BURGER CLOSE-UP

The burger patties were nicely charred, well seasoned and topped with plenty of molten cheese and slices of crispy well flavoured bacon.
I was happy to find that the Burger sauce and pickles had been applied with restraint so that the juicy meat remains the star of the show!
TOP BUN ACTION

I enjoyed the sesame seeded milk bun, soft inside, slightly chewy crust and gently toasted on the flat top giving that nice toasty flavour. Just big enough with a structural integrity perfect enough to hold all the meat, cheese, and bacon with ease
LOADED FRIES

We didn’t really need sides but that didn’t stop me ordering a tray of loaded fries topped with smoked bacon bits and thick molten cheese sauce. I ate most of them 😂
It was a shame that we didn’t eat them straight away as the cheese sauce had oozed its way down under the fries into the tray. I mean it didn’t matter that much taste wise, it would have been more fun to pick up some chips that were dripping with cheese instead of having to scrape them off the bottom of the container.
I still liked them but maybe next time I’ll ask if I can get the cheese sauce on the side so I can pout on at home 🧐😎
BURGER AND FRIES

The only downside was having to take the burgers home to eat. I yearn for a warmer lighter evening when I can pick up a couple and eat them outside fresh from the grill on a nearby park bench or sitting on the boot of the cat. Something to look forward too!
We had popped along looking for top notch burger action and that was exactly what we found in the form of a couple of Double Patty Bacon Cheeseburgers. I cannot wait for the next burger night
I also recommend a visit to the farm shops also, not just this one in East Leake, but also the ones in Ruddington and at Costock. I’ll be blogging about them in a different post soon.
They sell some excellent stuff and I am quite keen on their meatballs.
